The bhoys chalked up their ninth League win in 11 and back to back clean sheets with a 5-0 victory over Ballynure OB at the weekend. That’s four straight wins since the New Year defeat to Larne in the Irish Cup. New signing Jay Donnelly has hit the ground running, scoring in each of his four opening games, including a hat-trick in the Crawford Cup. Jay has struck up an incredible partnership with fellow striker Darren Stuart who himself is in fine form. Scoring 26 goals in 25 games Stu has netted eight times since the turn of the year meaning the pair have 14 goals between them in just four games. Ballynure can attest to our frontman’s ruthlessness in front of goal as it’s the second hat-trick against them this season, his fourth of the campaign so far. Former frontman Matthew Fitzpatrick (signed for Coleraine) and Stu’s impressive partnership totalled 21 goals in 15 games however the Donnelly – Stuart combination is taking it to another level! Larne are the only team to find a way to stop the bhoys from scoring so far, goals have come from 15 different goal scorers. Gary Warwick and the inform Kevin Lynch are both in double figures with Kevin adding his 11th at the weekend – that’s now three in his last four. Gazza’s recent knee injury has prevented him from adding to his impressive 15 goals from midfield. It’s going to be a busy second half to the season, cup runs have meant that we are nine games behind league leaders Dunloy though Mackers and his squad show no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
The reserve team extended their unbeaten streak with a 5-1 cup win against Antrim Rovers. Patrick McLaughlins men were comfortable winners in the end after being a goal down with goals from Ryan Davidson, James Larkin with two and Ciaran Carson got himself two aswell.
On Saturday morning, the under 14s were beaten in a cup game vs Glentoran Youth. The result was 2-1.
